PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Solarize Green Country is a program promulgated by a public-private coalition consisting of Ready for 100 Tulsa Campaign, Oklahoma Solar Association, Indian Nations Council of Governments, Oklahoma Renewable Energy Council, Real Good Food, Price Family Properties, Green Country Group of Oklahoma Sierra Club, Environmental Energy & Natural Resources Advocates, and Solar Crowdsource. The objectives of the Solarize Green Country program are to:

  • Making solar energy more affordable: lower the cost of solar energy through the power of group-purchasing and reduced acquisition costs. Pass savings on to residents of the Northeast Oklahoma region;
  • Making solar energy more accessible: predetermined, highly-vetted materials, pricing, and contractor(s) through a competitive bid process;
  • Education and community engagement: widespread community engagement, education and outreach activities through town hall meetings, workshops, solar “open house” gatherings, and outreach through local community groups and events;
  • Promoting solar-positive policies: encourage local governments to adopt streamlined solar energy permitting policies and fair utility distributed generation policies. Advance greenhouse gas reduction goals, clean-energy production, workforce development opportunities, and other community policy objectives; and
  • Giving back: A portion of campaign proceeds will be used to donate a solar energy system to a deserving local nonprofit organization and/or help to underwrite solar-energy systems for qualified low- and moderate-Income families with high energy burdens.

Questions and Answers

(all questions submitted to the email address above will be posted here)

Question: Are you ok with out of state, national finance partners?

Answer: Yes

Question: Would you give preference to Oklahoma based finance partners?

Answer: No, although an Oklahoma-based finance partner would be great, due to the importance of onboarding viable financing options, there is no stated preference for in-state or out-of-state financing.

Question: Are zero dealer fee financing methods given more points than dealer fee financing?

Answer: We consider financing as a whole rather than their component parts, including but not limited to, dealer fees, interest rates, amortization, and underwriting qualifications.

Question:  Are past RFPs submittals are public anywhere?

Answer: No, submittals often contain proprietary information and therefore we do not make them public.
